About
Stoke Lodge is 22 acres of beautiful parkland wrapped around a grade two listed house which was in notable private ownership until 1947 when it was bought by what is now Bristol City Council.
The house and surrounding buildings now house BCC adult education facilities. You can find their website here.
A large part of the village green has, in the past, been laid out seasonally as sports pitches. A much-loved children’s playpark has its own area to the west of the house and to the east of the house is an arboretum area including many spectacular and notable trees.
Village Green status was awarded in 2023 after a long campaign by the local community to maintain free public access to the historic parkland as enjoyed for many generations and for the benefit of future generations, and to protect it from future development. Sadly, that that legal status has since been removed but its role in our lives hasn’t changed.
To us, Stoke Lodge remains our village green in every way that matters. We continue to use and value it just as we always have – as a shared space for everyone to enjoy.
Unfortunately, the village green is still under threat (more info on our Welcome page), We need your help. Please visit the We Love Stoke Lodge blog for more detail and the Donations page if you can help. Thank you.
